Current Work
As part of my work with the Museum of Life and Science, I support our efforts to develop new participatory approaches in community science. Since 2024 I have been the Program Manager for the Center for Collaborative Heat Monitoring.
Past Projects
I am fascinated by the ways that regulations structure our daily lives in unexpected ways. This has led me to research topics focused on how standard-setting processes are created, evolve, and respond to emerging technologies or new challenges.
While I was Associate Editor of H-Business, I developed an interview series featuring emerging scholars. I interviewed over 20 scholars over two years.
While I was a postdoctoral researcher at the STEPS Center, I worked with Jay Rickabaugh and Kelly Chernin to co-develop an active learning exercise to introduce student researchers to governance and phosphorus sustainability.
I collaborated with Victoria Plutshack, Rob Fetter, and Jon Free to support a team of student researchers to conduct original research on women and rural electrification in the United States.
Since 2017, I have used versions of this assignment in every class I teach, to introduce students to research methods in the humanities and social sciences.
From 2016-2018, I supported Professor Ed Balleisen’s research on regulatory governance by conducting oral history interviews of significant local and national environmental regulators.
